精选AV operates under authority granted by the Illinois General Assembly. Programs of study offered by the University have been specifically authorized by the State of Illinois through its . In addition to being state-authorized, 精选AV and many of its programs of study are accredited. Accreditation assures quality by verifying that an institution or program meets threshold quality standards and is engaged in continuous improvement.

精选AV is accredited by the (HLC), one of six regional accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Higher Learning Commission accreditation of colleges and universities involves multiple reviews occurring in a 10-year cycle that begins and ends with a comprehensive review with site visit. The accreditation review schedule for Illinois State in the current 10-year cycle follows.
